Applications being accepted for SOJ scholarship and student enhancement awards

The P.I. Reed School of Journalism invites all SOJ students to apply for scholarships for the 2013-14 academic year. This is an especially exciting time at the School of Journalism as a number of new scholarships have recently been created.

Interested students must complete the SOJ Scholarship Application by 4 p.m. on March 23, 2013. Completed applications will be reviewed by the SOJ Scholarship Selection Committee. As financial need is a determinant in scholarship selection, students must also submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1.

Each spring, the SOJ also offers a limited number of Student Enhancement Awards, cash awards to students who have secured major-market journalism internships or have been accepted in a journalism-related study abroad programs. Awards typically range from $500 to $1,000. Students must have already been accepted for and made a commitment to participate in a study abroad program or an internship that requires traveling or living away from home and working in a metropolitan market. Student Enhancement Award applications must be complete by 4 p.m. on March 23, 2013.

Download the applications and learn more on the SOJ website. FAFSA instructions are available at http://www.finaid.wvu.edu/apply.
