Pittsburgh marketing and advertising agency seeks social engagement coordinator

Engauge, an award-winning marketing and advertising agency, is looking for an energetic, digital-minded individual for the position of Social Engagement Coordinator within the Social Marketing Team that is led by the Vice President of Social Marketing. The position will reside in the Pittsburgh office and report to the Social Engagement Manager.

The Social Engagement Coordinator will be critical to the day-to-day success of the social marketing team. They will work closely with the Social Engagement Manager to execute and manage all social marketing accounts in Pittsburgh, including channel set-up, posting, engaging, and overall management. The Coordinator will work closely with the Manager to identify and vet key influencers and brand advocates. The ideal candidate will support the Manager by helping to identify local opportunities to represent social marketing both publicly and internally and will have significant input into the marketing materials needed for those efforts.

WVU Sports Communications student assistants wanted

The West Virginia University Sports Communications Office is now accepting applications to fill student assistant positions for the 2012-13 school year.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * public relations coverage of assigned WVU varsity sports * feature writing * press release writing * acting as a liaison between WVU athletics and the media * working closely with the Big 12 conference office * working closely with assigned sport’s head coach * sport game-day operations * pre- and post-event operations * Internet writing and assisting with Mountaineer football and men’s basketball game-day operations

WVU seniors take on client of a "different breed"

By utilizing social media, media relations and brand development strategies, the group is planning and executing a full public relations campaign, including special events, fundraising activities, a new Web site, Twitter account and Facebook page.

Under the direction of School of Journalism adjunct instructor Chuck Harman, the students have created their own agency, Better Tomorrow Public Relations, to raise awareness of the center’s services.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter Jon Schmitz to visit SOJ

Jon Schmitz, a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter and SOJ grad, will be in Martin Hall next Wednesday, April 11 to talk about how is career has evolved from a newspaper reporter to a multimedia journalist. Interested students are encouraged to join Schmitz in room 205 from 4-5:30 pm.

Schmitz covers transportation for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He has been a reporter and editor in Pittsburgh since 1978, previously covering federal, state and local government, politics and the courts. He has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from West Virginia University.
