West Virginia Junior College seeks a Career Management Director for its Morgantown Campus.

Purpose:
The fundamental responsibility of the institution is to provide graduates with the opportunity to develop and manage a professional career in their chosen field of study. As such, the career management department is the essential foundation for the achievement of that goal. The Career Management Director is responsible for building career management and job seeking skills with students, networking and building relationships in the community, planning events, utilizing social media and new technology and handling alumni relations.

Responsibilities:

  • Achievement of overall placement rate goal for graduating students for current statistical year
  • Achievement of placement rate goal for alumni for current cohort year
  • Instruct a Career Preparation course to provide training assistance on professional document origination, interview training, social media professionalism and job seeking
  • Build a strong community reputation to network and build partnerships for student employment and in-field externships
  • Develop and place students in externships related to specific program of study
  • Assist in hosting PR events and career management events for campus
  • Utilize social media to provide news and information to students and to show a professional role model for social media use
  • Research and use LinkedIn, in conjunction with school website to promote student and alumni communication and networking
  • Assist with new program research with Regional Director of Career Management
  • Work closely with Regional Director of Career Management to set and reach satisfactory goals for placement statistics, community involvement and campus events

The Career Management Director position is an extremely versatile position and while the above responsibilities are primary, he/she also has a responsibility to meet organizational goals. As such, adjustments or additions to these responsibilities and methods by which they are achieved may be required to ensure operational effectiveness and efficiency in the Career Management Department.
