WVU Parkersburg seeks editorial assistant

Job description:

  • The editorial assistant researches, writes and edits various informational materials for publication, including news releases, fact sheets, feature articles, newsletters, biographies, email blasts, talking points, introductions, public service announcements and recruitment materials.
  • Compiles event listings and information for distribution to media and other internal and external audiences.
  • Proofreads print and online publications to ensure that all promotional copy adheres to college and AP style guidelines.
  • Assists with making changes and edits to the website as requested.
  • Works with faculty, staff and student organizations to publicize small on- and off-campus events such as fundraisers, sporting events, lectures, presentations and student activities.
  • Coordinates processing creative services requests from faculty and staff to include proofreading request forms to ensure all necessary information is provided.
  • Tracks all media/press coverage and maintains press clippings.
  • Creates, plans and implements alumni activities including on- and off-campus events.
  • Assists with recruiting and managing volunteers to support alumni relations and events.
  • Develops and implements strategies to connect with college alumni.
  • Develops content for the alumni portion of website.
  • Updates and maintains alumni portion of website regularly.
  • Assists with development of presentations and reports as requested.
  • Attends on- and off-campus meetings as requested and reports back on issues of importance.
  • Serves on committees and task forces as requested.
  • Secures personnel coverage for the information desk when the switchboard operator is on leave.
