Communications intern needed for WV Congressional campaign

The Citizens to Elect Sue Thorn Congress 2012 are looking for a Campaign Communications and Media Relations Intern.

Job Description:

Opportunity available to intern for progressive Democratic candidate for West Virginia’s 1st Congressional District, Sue Thorn. The communications intern will assist the campaign in establishing positive media relations and outreach to voters. The intern will directly report to the campaign press secretary. The intern will be responsible for monitoring and compiling press coverage, research and fact-checking, assisting the press secretary in drafting statements, web content, and press releases, utilizing social media, providing administrative support, preparing mailings and other tasks as assigned. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in journalism, have excellent writing skills, and be capable of working in a high-stress, fast-paced environment. Previous internship or paid writing experience is preferred but not required. This internship is unpaid. Applicants who can intern until November will be given special consideration. The intern will work 10-15 hours per week. Campaign will work with intern to obtain course credit if needed.
