WVU seeks student photographers for next school year

WVU University Relations/News is seeking up to two student photographers for the 2013-2014 academic year. The position pays $8/hour. Hours vary depending on the work assignments,but will be no more than 20 per week. The positions are available July 1, but start date is flexible depending on schedule.

The photographer will handle still and video assignments, using DSLR cameras for internal University Relations departments as well as all colleges/schools and various University units, including but not limited to Extension Service, facilities, Health Sciences Center, athletics, Research Corp., provost and president’s office.

In addition to taking the images, each assignment consists of editing images for selections of favorites, keywording, publishing, captioning and archiving, all expected to be completed within 12 hours of non-deadline assignments.

The student photographer is responsible for departmental equipment, including cameras, lenses, flashes, batteries, cards, bags, lights, backdrops, power packs, state van, etc.

The student photographer will be expected to be available for regular office hours during regular university business hours as well as nights and weekends. During office hours duties will include completing digital requests from clients as well as printing.

Requirements:
– Ability to photograph, edit, caption and move images for News purposes on deadline. 
– Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop/Bridge for editing/color and exposure correction, keywording and captioning
– Basic understanding of lighting and the ability to use hot lights and strobe/flash lighting creatively.
– Valid Driver’s License as Class E Operator minimum.
– Ability to work on deadline, and flexible schedule overall.
– Good communication skills, ability to use a DSLR manually to obtain sharp, correctly exposed images.
– Have a basic knowledge of WVU Morgantown Campus and want to tell the University’s story.
