May Commencement: It's time to apply and RSVP!

May Commencement 2013

Graduation season will be here soon, and the School of Journalism is already making plans for another memorable ceremony. But first, we need you to take action!

Step 1. APPLY FOR GRADUATION – Deadline Feb. 8

If you anticipate graduating in May 2013, you must complete the Graduation Application Packet and return it to Ronda Maxon in 107 Martin Hall by February 8. Place it in the envelope on Ronda’s cubicle marked Completed Graduation Applications. Please include a phone number on your application.

You are only considered a May graduate if you are completing all of your course requirements at the end of the spring semester. Be sure to mark the correct term of graduation (May) on your application. You MUST complete and return the application by this date to ensure an audit is completed before mid-semester courses begin.

If you are completing your course requirements in the summer term and are an August graduate, DO NOT complete a Graduation Application Packet at this time. You will be notified at a later date to do so.

Questions about graduation certification should be directed to Ronda Maxon at ronda.maxon@mail.wvu.edu or 304-293-3507.

Step 2. RSVP for the COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY – Deadline Feb. 8

The School of Journalism will host its annual May Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 18 at 9:30 am at the Creative Arts Center. If you are able to complete your graduation requirements by May or August 2013, you are invited to participate in this ceremony.

If you plan to attend the ceremony, you MUST RSVP by February 8. Because of the continued growth of this event and limited number and size of venues, the ceremony will be a ticketed event. As was the case last year, we will be issuing a limited number of guest tickets per graduate. Ticket availability per graduate (e.g., 4-6) will be based on the number of responses to the online RSVP. Only those graduates who RSVP to the ceremony will receive the link to the ticketing website later this spring.

Questions about the Commencement ceremony should be directed to Christa Vincent at christa.vincent@mail.wvu.edu or 304-293-7016.

The application packet and RSVP are available on the SOJ website.
