Student-run humor magazine looking for to fill several open positions

The Black Sheep, a student-run humor magazine that currently distributes on and around WVU, is currently looking to fill several positions.

(Print) Writers: Each week writers will be asked to submit one 550-800 word article to their Editorial Manager, to be published in our paper and posted on our site. These timely pieces, which offer humorous insight to local news stories relevant to WVU students, will be submitted to the campus Editorial Manager for review, feedback and publishing.

(Online) Writers: Each week writers will be asked to submit three short reaction pieces to their Editorial Manager, to be posted on our site. These timely pieces, which offer humorous insight to local news stories relevant to WVU students, will be submitted to the campus Editorial Manager for review, feedback and posting.

Advertising Manager: Advertising Managers work with local businesses and our corporate team in Chicago to sign advertising packages with clients. An Advertising Manager is an integral part of this process, describing our business model, how it can help local businesses generate revenue, and closing deals. They are paid a percentage of the advertising revenue they generate.

Editorial Manager: In short, the Editorial Manager oversees any and all content produced for the local section of the paper and the website. The Editorial Manager is in charge of assigning, collecting and editing (for both content and grammar) The Black Sheep articles on a deadline. Beyond editing, the Editorial Manager will be required to attend the weekly staff meeting, and to conduct the content creation portion of the meeting. At or before the deadline the Editorial Manager will send the articles to Corporate for layout. Finally, the Editorial Manager should work with the Staff Photographer to outline a list of necessary pictures for the upcoming issue. It is a paid position, and the editorial manager would be expected to work eight to 10 hours per week.

Promotions Team: The Promotions Team should assist the Promotions Manager in the organization and execution of The Black Sheep events across campus. This includes mandatory weekly Street Team distribution, as well as presence at events in which The Black Sheep participates.

All of these positions are great ways for students to get hands-on experience with a growing company that understands a student’s busy schedule. To apply visit http://theblacksheeponline.com/submit/jobapp
