Scripps-Howard seeks Washington interns for several programs

Juniors and seniors studying print, online, broadcast and photo journalism are invited to apply for a semester-long reporting internship in Washington and a post-graduate, multimedia fellowship.

Semester in Washington pays a stipend and provides free housing in furnished apartments.

Interns report for the web-based Scripps Howard Foundation Wire and may also report for campus, hometown or other news organizations. Interns work with an experienced Washington editor to choose, report, write and edit multimedia stories using social media, blogs, videos and slideshows. Tours of Washington journalism and government institutions and guest speakers are part of the program.

Fall 2013 (Sept. 4 to Dec. 10) Stipend $2,660, plus free housing. Application deadline postmark: March 15, 2013

The foundation also supports an intern who reports for the Hispanic Link News Service. The term, application deadline, pay and housing are the same. Students may apply to both programs. Download the Hispanic Link application form here: http://shfwire.com/node/6889

2013-2014 Post-graduate Multimedia Fellow: Application postmark deadline is April 1

Recent graduates with bachelor’s or master’s degrees are invited to apply for this yearlong fellowship. The fellowship includes free housing in a furnished apartment and a $22,155 stipend. The fellowship lasts for a year, beginning in late August or early September 2013.

The fellow maintains our website, so applicants must have excellent html and CMS skills. The fellow teaches multimedia skills to undergraduate interns – including the use of DSLR cameras and video editing – coordinates group projects and produces his or her own stories.
