Morgantown Farmer's Market seeks summer intern

Job Summary:
The Morgantown Farmers Market’s purpose is to provide area farmers with alternative opportunities through a retail marketplace and also encourage regional farming. Our commitment is to provide the consumers with fresh, locally grown or produced products in a convenient location.
Intern will perform duties under the general direction of the Morgantown Farmers Market Growers’ Association Board of Directors and Morgantown Farmers’ Market Manager.Duties:

  • Serves as Morgantown Farmers Market Marketing Public Relations Intern of a large (~30+) farmers market with responsibility for operation of weekly functions with applicable rules and standards.
  • Applies knowledge to promotes sales and positive growth development.
  • Ensures facility maintain appropriate standards for condition and sanitation.
  • Provides oversight and accountability on market days with highest respect to safety and well-being of market customers.
  • Collects any and all appropriate data for grant use.
  • Provides oversight to all appropriate signage to displayed at the Market.
  • Conducts observations of market products to provide vital information to customers.
  • Monitors Market to ensure compliance with any and all applicable bylaws, rules, and Food Handlers guidelines.
  • Collaborates with the advertising committee to ensure best use of resources through press releases, events, social media management, blogging, video
  • Content production, article writing, public relations, generating marketing plans, etc.
  • Includes other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
  • General knowledge of agriculture, food, and the overall industry consistent with the position
  • Comprehensive oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to present ideas and proposals to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems and identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions.
  • MCHD Food Service Worker Permit

Conditions of Employment:
Work Schedule: 7:00 am -12:30 pm, early mornings on weekends. This position is critical to the daily operation. Approximately 10 unscheduled and flexible hours outside of Market time.
