Public Affairs intern opportunity available in Alexandria, Va.

The Society for Human Resource Management, located in Alexandria, Va., is looking for a social media intern this summer. This internship is for full-time students enrolled in an accredited university.

This is a full-time internship and the pay is $15 per hour.

The Public Affairs Department at the Society for Human Resource Management is responsible for ensuring that the public is informed about SHRM’s activities, research, and public policy positions. The Social Media Intern will be provided with an opportunity to work in a small but fast-paced communications office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Social Media Intern will assist the Director of Social Engagement with:

  • Maintaining the SHRM blog and drafting blog posts
  • Developing relevant content for and posting to SHRM’s social accounts including (but not limited to) Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Monitor trending hash tags relevant to SHRM and HR
  • Producing weekly social media metric reports
  • Providing additional support as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

College Student enrolled in a full-time program at an accredited university majoring in Marketing, Business, Journalism, Communications or related major. Prior social media campaign experience strongly encouraged. Previous social media experience preferred and metrics you used to judge success.
