Pikewood Creative, an Emmy Award winning production agency, located in Morgantown is seeking a summer intern to work in various public relations and social media campaigns designed at business development. This is a non-paying internship. We are searching for an extremely motivated self-starter who can take a project from inception to completion. This is not a hand-holding internship, this is an opportunity for a candidate to join the Pikewood team and gain valuable real-world experience.

Center for Documentary Studies accepting applications for post-graduate internships

The Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University is accepting applications for three nine-month internship positions that will begin in September 2013 and end in May 2014.

The interns will gain broad experience in the documentary field, with particular focus on exhibiting, digital arts and publishing, web design, and producing a range of materials related to the documentary arts. The interns will be based at CDS in Durham, North Carolina, for the 2013–14 academic year.

Virginia newspaper seeks sportswriter

The Daily News-Record in Harrisonburg, Va., has an entry-level position for a sports writer. The job involves Division III football and basketball, high school sports, desk work, digital posting, etc. The DN-R sports staff has five full-time employees and is located in a community with three colleges (including James Madison University) in the Shenandoah Valley about two hours south of D.C.

WVU journalism school videos win international awards

The WVU P.I. Reed School of Journalism is the winner of two 2013 Telly Awards. The awards were announced in early April. There are two award levels – Silver and Bronze.

A Tribute to George Esper, ‘The Heart and Soul of WU won a Bronze award in the History/Biography category, and See What You Can Be – Logan Venderlic won a Bronze award in the Recruitment category.

Oppe wins WVU's 2013 Faculty Excellence in Civic Engagement Award

Oppe has taught one of the service-learning courses most popular with Center for Civic Engagement community partners for several semesters, PR 324 Public Relations Writing and Application. The students and community members learn together through the foundation of reflection and understanding Dr. Oppe provides in the classroom. Her contagious excitement for her field and the pedagogy of service learning had made her a top advocate on campus.

Recipients were recognized on April 25, during the Center for Civic Engagement’s annual Engagement Celebration. The award presentation took place as part of the eighth-annual Week of Engagement.
