WVU Sport Communications seeks student assistants for 2014-2015 school year

The West Virginia University Sports Communications Office is now accepting applications to fill student assistant positions for the 2014-15 school year.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: public relations coverage of assigned WVU varsity sports, feature writing, press release writing, acting as a liaison between WVU athletics and the media, working closely with the Big 12 Conference office, working closely with assigned sport’s head coach, sport game-day operations, pre- and post-event operations, Internet writing and assisting with Mountaineer football and men’s basketball game-day operations.

Applicants MUST possess excellent writing ability, demonstrate the knack for meeting deadlines, be well-organized, maintain a high level of time management skills, be willing to work weekends and some late evenings and must be comfortable working in a team-oriented environment. A background in sports is preferred but not required.

Attire is semi-professional during working hours, professional at your assigned sporting events. The volunteer assistantship can count toward internship credit.

Applications must include cover letter, resume, references and writing samples. Application deadline is Wednesday, April 16. Applications must be submitted to Room 217, WVU Coliseum. APPLICATIONS VIA E-MAIL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!
