Police-General Assignment Reporter
The Register-Herald, the leading daily newspaper in southern West Virginia, has an opening for a police/general assignment reporter withmultimedia experience. Experience in curating a website is a plus.
The 20,000-circulation Register-Herald is located in Beckley, the business and medical hub for the region.
Duties: The successful candidate will work a Sunday through Thursday shift, handling the crime beat on Sunday-Monday and general assignments at the direction of the managing editor. You will also be expected to be proficient in all aspects of social media and expertise in web curation and evaluation of website metrics, including developing content strategies.
Qualifications: BA or MA in journalism/communications. In the absence of specific journalism education, we will consider experience in the media industry.
