WVU Parkersburg seeks program coordinator for Marketing Department

West Virginia University at Parkersburg seeks a program coordinator to provide support for the Marketing and Communications department in developing plans for promotion of technical and IT programs to non-traditional students.

Duties:

  • Researches, writes and edits various informational materials for publication, including news releases, fact sheets, feature articles, newsletters, biographies, email blasts, talking points, introductions, public service announcements and recruitment materials.
  • Proofreads both print and online publications to ensure that all promotional copy adheres to college and AP style guidelines.
  • Assists in making changes and edits to the website as requested.
  • Writes copy and develops creative services requests for marketing materials to include
  • advertisements, brochures, rack cards, posters and other items.
  • Promotes technical programs to non-traditional students in cooperation with the WV CTC System
  • and other colleges participating in the Bridging the Gap grant.
  • Writes feature articles about successful students and alumni to help promote college and academic
  • programs.
  • Contacts media to pitch stories and invite press to events or newsworthy happenings on campus.
  • Photographs students, events, faculty and educational materials and equipment for use in
  • promotional materials.
  • Develops and implements strategies to connect with college alumni to track employment status.
  • Develops content and strategies for the website to promote technical programs.
  • Assists with development of presentations and reports as requested.
  • Attends on- and off-campus recruiting events as part of non-traditional student enrollment efforts
  • as requested.
  • Attends on- and off-campus meetings as requested
  • Serves on committees and task forces as requested.
  • Assists with edits and creation of creative materials using Adobe Creative Suite products.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Knowledge:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field is required.

Experience:

One year of experience in communications, media, and marketing is required.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of communications principles, media and marketing techniques and operations.
  • Knowledge of office methods, procedures and protocol.
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling punctuation and sentence structure.
  • Knowledge of Associated Press Stylebook guidelines
  • Skill in operation of personal computers, including the use email and Microsoft products (Word,
  • Excel, etc.)
  • Some basic knowledge and skill in the use of graphic design software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively on multiple tasks.
  • Ability to establish positive internal and external working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments without detailed instruction.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to a wide range of audiences.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Rate of Pay:

Full-time, grant-funded, classified position, non-exempt, benefits eligible, 37.5 hours per week, pay grade 15, $13.86 per hour.
