The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University is seeking a communication specialist to work in the College’s Communications and Marketing Office. This position is required to perform a wide range of duties including the execution of a high-level integrated marketing communications plan to a variety of audiences and constituents. As a key member of the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences Communications Office, the incumbent will be responsible for helping to identify, shape, and manage the development of high-quality content for the College’s news, recruiting, and fundraising efforts, including online content, press releases, social media, collateral publications, associated websites and other appropriate communication vehicles.
The employee will promote key College initiatives and programs, respond to requests for information, gather and interpret information, gain media exposure and help deal with any crisis issues. This position is also responsible for helping create communications strategies, messages, developing copy and providing communications counsel to faculty and administrators in assigned areas for the purpose of enhancing the College’s reputation.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree is required. A degree in public relations, advertising, integrated marketing communications, marketing, journalism, communications or a related field is preferred. A minimum of two years’ work experience in writing feature articles, press releases, web content, marketing materials as well as social media experience is also required. The position requires excellent writing skills, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
