About the Artist

Kristian Thacker

Kristian Thacker is a commercial photographer and videographer based in West Virginia.

He studied photography at Shepherd College graduating with a B.F.A. His knowledge of the history of photography and photographic processes informs his approach in making contemporary images with a classic appeal.

His work has appeared in Bloomberg Businessweek, TOPIC Magazine, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal, among others. His current work focuses on the Upper Ohio Valley in central Appalachia.

He is working to document the changes in the region as it shifts from an economy based in heavy manufacturing and chemical industries into a plastics and natural gas extraction hub.
