PR senior Katlin Stinespring named 2011 Ms. Mountaineer

Butler and Stinespring were crowned during halftime of the WVU-Louisville football game on Saturday (Nov. 5) at Milan Puskar Stadium. The awards are given each year as part of WVU’s Mountaineer Week festivities.

Butler, a five-year Masters student in secondary math education, is a Clarksburg native and is sponsored by WVU Collegiate 4-H Club.

The P.I. Reed School of Journalism has had an official partnership with ESPN since the fall of 2008. The student-generated content initiative, designed to provide college journalists hands-on experience with the network broadcasts, also crosses over to the ESPNU.com website and other ESPN Inc. platforms, including ESPNU, ESPN2 and ESPN radio.

Former TIME photo director to visit SOJ (Nov. 7)

Photography editor and media consultant MaryAnne Golon is well known for discovering talent and placing photojournalists in assignments that fit their niche.

Golon, the former director of photography at TIME magazine, will give WVU P.I. Reed School of Journalism students an insider’s perspective on the industry when she visits campus next week.

The WVU Alumni Association is seeking a multimedia specialist to create and implement electronic and print communications to enhance the mission of the organization. The position requires a bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience. Qualified applicants will have knowledge of content management systems, Web development, HTML, photography, and PhotoShop, among others. ESPN SportsCenter anchor to speak to WVU students about importance of education

The event is coordinated through the University’s Resident Faculty Leader program to support their “Our WVU Communities” initiative.

“I am humbled that WVU’s RFL program has invited me to speak on the topic of education – a subject I am very passionate about,” Harris said. “I am looking forward to meeting the talented students of WVU. I accepted this invitation to come to WVU, so that I could talk to students about the importance of education in their lives. Education is the key to everything.”
