Internship at WVU Foundation

The West Virginia University Foundation has a paid internship ($8 per hour) available for summer 2012 and the 2012-13 academic year. The intern must be a West Virginia University student who is able to work 15-20 hours during the summer and 10-15 hours during the academic year. We will work around the intern’s class schedule.

The intern will assist with the communications and marketing efforts of the Foundation. This includes, but it not limited to, writing news releases and articles for media, newsletters and the alumni magazine; writing for the Web; assisting with internal communications; and helping with content development, design and layout of ads and publications.

SOJ establishes fund in memory of Dr. George Esper

The West Virginia University P.I. Reed School of Journalism has established a fund in memory of former Ogden Newspapers Visiting Professor George Esper. A renowned journalist and beloved professor, Esper passed away Feb. 2.

The George Esper International Study Enhancement Fund will provide travel support for qualified School of Journalism students participating in an international study abroad project or faculty-led international trip.

Summer intern wanted at TIL Lifestyle Marketing + Events

TIL Lifestyle Marketing + Events, a boutique lifestyle marketing and events company located in Los Angeles, Calf., has amazing projects lined up this year and plans to hire a summer intern. The company produces invitation-only events for entertainment influencers, celebrities and media as well as high-profile events for the general public. This is a crash course and will provide tremendous learning experience.

This is not a traditional working environment. TIL works out of a home office, but don’t let that fool you. Their clients are name brands and their connections are vast. Past clients include The Walt Disney Company, GRAMMYS, Allure Magazine and Chevrolet.

Office of Senator Jay Rockefeller seeks Press Intern

Location: Washington, DC

Responsibilities:
– Complete daily media clips from state and national sources
– Write and edit documents such as press releases, columns, talking points, memos, media advisories and outreach e-mails
– Assist with the upkeep of the Senator’s website and social media sites
– Help with special projects including newsletters, video scheduling, setting up press conferences, and editing video and audio to send back to the state
– Track and monitor state and national press calls and assist with managing the official press office e-mail account

WVU PRSSA Fashion Show struts its way to raising funds for the Morgantown Boys and Girls Club

Students from West Virginia University will walk the runway this Wednesday (March 14) to support the Morgantown Boys and Girls Club in the third annual charity Fashion Show put on by the Public Relations Student Society of America.

The show, held in the Mountainlair Ballrooms from 5 to 7 p.m., features clothing and accessories from local Morgantown clothing retailers such as Altered Ego, Coni & Franc, Lavish Boutique, Park & Madison and Vance’s Blues.

WVAHC seeks summer intern

West Virginians for Affordable Health Care (WVAHC) is offering a full-time, unpaid summer internship to qualified candidates. The internship lasts approximately 8—12 weeks. Start and stop dates will be mutually agreed upon between WVAHC and intern.

WVAHC, based in Charleston, W. Va., is a nonprofit organization working to provide quality, affordable health care to all West Virginians. We are governed by an all-star Board of Directors and led by Perry Bryant, WVAHC Executive Director. The intern will work closely with Perry and Renate Pore, WVAHC’s Directors of Health Care Policy. WVU PRSSA and Girl Scouts of America partner to sell cookies on campus

WVU PRSSA is sponsoring a booth for the St. Francis de Sales Central Catholic School’s 8th grade girl scouts this week. Troop Leader Delores Johnson will supervise the girls as they sell their cookies to WVU students and faculty.

“It’s important for PRSSA to sponsor these types of groups,” said Jill Necessary, WVU PRSSA Secretary. “The Girl Scouts of America and other groups like them teach young girls leadership skills that will be important for the rest of their lives,”
