FCTV in Uniontown, Pa., is looking for production interns to help coordinate their live variety show, Going LIVE with FCTV (http://goingLIVEfctv.org). This internship is open to high school graduates who are interested in, or are pursuing, the collegiate study of broadcast communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field. They’re currenlty looking to fill an intern position for the spring semester (January 28-May 3—14 weeks.) A total of 60 hours is required for the semester, and interns are expected to work at least one day per week. While there is no financial compensation or promise of subsequent employment, they are willing to offer course credit.

Position Overview: The Journalism Internship offers students the ability to gain and apply editorial, reporting, and synthesizing skills. Through the use of various media strategies such as: digital, print, video, audio, and online; the journalism intern will engage in education, outreach, and communications which promote and further sustainable campus and community based initiatives. Note: This position could be paid or unpaid. If paid, the candidate is expected to work 20 hours per week. If unpaid, the number of hours may range between 10 and 20 per week. Schedules are flexible.
Press release writing and some print and design. The intern will be working on press releases and news stories and some print and layout projects for the WVU College of Education and Human Services. All departments and programs are in need of news stories and either an updated brochure/brochures or a new creation. The intern will also be responsible for collecting information and writing basic press releases for media advisories announcing college events, awards or contributing to feature stories or booklets. Intern must be able to use a camera to convey the brand and “tell the story” for the College of Eduction and Human Services.
The story was produced by recent SOJ graduate Erika Blatt and journalism seniors Sean McNamara and IIyssa Miroshnik. The three were reporters for the School’s newly established Mountaineer News Service during the Fall 2012 semester. The Mountaineer News Service is a capstone course in which senior journalism students produce multi-platform news and feature packages. The packages are offered state and regional papers as free content.
