Student Housing Fair Jan 23

West Virginia University students interested in living off-campus are encouraged to attend the annual off-campus housing fair on Jan. 23.

The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms. More than 40 area landlords and property managers will be on hand to talk to students.

Pittsburgh company offers free SEO training

LunaMetrics, a Pittsburgh-based company, is offering a free, four-week course on search engine optimization to area university students, to help them stand out in the job market. The course starts February 9th, in LunaMetrics’ office.

Students will be paired with local non-profit partners such as Global Links and will work with them to learn search engine optimization skills.

Washington Media Scholars Foundation to hold Media Plan Case Competition.

The Media Plan Case Competition represents the cornerstone and the entry-level for the Media Scholars Program. It challenges students to think strategically, take advantage of original methods of communication, and dive into the deep-end of marketing impressions, numbers and budgets.

InnerAction Media, LLC seeks interns

InnerAction Media, LLC, www.inneractionmedia.com, at 344 High Street in downtown Morgantown is seeking non-paid interns for the spring term. The internships require at least 10 hours a week. However, if the intern is able to work at least 100 hours during the term, the internship can count for class credit.

InnerAction is looking for seniors or graduate students to fill the spots.

Make-A-Wish® America accepting applications for summer interns

Make-A-Wish® America is proud to announce that we are now accepting general applications for our summer internship program.

Fifteen full-time, paid internships are being offered this summer for current, full-time college students to further cultivate their skills through a real-life work experience. Specific summer internship positions and job descriptions will be posted in mid-January, however, only one application is needed. All internships are set to begin on June 3rd, 2013, based at our World Headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona for 10 weeks, compensated on an hourly basis ($10.00).

SOJ alumni take on new roles with Charleston Daily Mail

Charleston Daily Mail editor and publisher Nanya Friend recently announced changes to her staff—including new roles for two SOJ alumni.

Jared Hunt, a 31-year-old Jackson County resident who has been covering West Virginia government news for the Daily Mail, will fill the business editor position. Hunt joined the Daily Mail in June 2010 after accumulating years of business and journalistic experience.

Climate Media Fellowship 2013 - call for applications

The Heinrich Boell Foundation welcomes applications for its Climate Media Fellowship 2013. The EU and Germany have embarked on an ambitious transition toward a low carbon economy where great emphasis is placed on the role of increased energy efficiency and renewable energy in securing economic opportunities for business and industry. The goal of the Climate Media Fellowship is to familiarize US energy media experts with the European and German experiences and policy solutions and communicate these into the US policy debate on a local, regional and national level.

WVU seeks student photographers for next school year

WVU University Relations/News is seeking up to two student photographers for the 2013-2014 academic year. The position pays $8/hour. Hours vary depending on the work assignments,but will be no more than 20 per week. The positions are available July 1, but start date is flexible depending on schedule.

The photographer will handle still and video assignments, using DSLR cameras for internal University Relations departments as well as all colleges/schools and various University units, including but not limited to Extension Service, facilities, Health Sciences Center, athletics, Research Corp., provost and president’s office.
