Charleston Daily Mail to conduct internship interviews

Charleston Daily Mail assistant city editor Billy Wolfe will conduct in-person interviews Friday, Jan. 31, for a summer internship.

The intern will work as a general assignment reporter in the Daily Mail’s dynamic, digital-first newsroom. We offer pay of $350 a week for 10-12 weeks following the spring semester. The winning candidate also receives a Gianodis scholarship of $1,000 for the following academic year.

WBIR-TV, the Gannett-owned NBC affiliate in Knoxville, Tenn., is looking for a Digital Producer. WBIR is a #1-rated, Emmy- and Murrow-winning station. 
The primary responsibility of this position is to drive traffic to all platforms. The successful candidate must:

• Have solid news judgment
• Have a strong knowledge of AP-style writing
• Be social media savvy
• Understand and utilize analytics

SOJ Alumnus works to prevent cyber attacks

Mark Kramer (BSJ, 1982) is co-founder of Commercial Deposit Insurance Agency, Inc. (CDIA), which is focused on helping small businesses prevent cyber attacks. Kramer founded the company after learning of the threats of such attacks on small businesses. Many buisnesses, even successful ones, are forced to close within six months of an attack, according to U.S. Rep. Chris Collins (R, N.Y.). The company provides options to help small businesses, non-profits and trust accounts prepare for, prevent, and fend off cyber attacks. Read more.
