The College of Media will host a workshop with the WVU ASPIRE office for students we feel would be strong candidates for highly competitive scholarships and fellowships such as Fulbright, Marshall, Gates, Truman, and Mitchell. These nationally renowned scholarships provide funding and opportunities both in the US and abroad.
Typically, these are awarded during a student’s junior or senior year and involve a lengthy application process. If you are interested in pursuing one of the aforementioned scholarships or fellowships it is imperative to start the planning process early.
The WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities (CED) is recruiting graduate and professional students to participate in the Disability & Diversity Fellowship Program. Two graduate students from diverse backgrounds will be awarded a Diversity & Disability Fellowship starting in the spring semester of 2016 continuing through the summer of 2016. The fellows will receive a tuition waiver and be paid a stipend for living expenses during the spring and summer semesters.
This Diversity & Disability Fellowship Program will increase knowledge of disability services and supports and improve workforce capacity to serve individuals with disabilities and their families.
Don Nehlen, former West Virginia University head football coach will visit the West Virginia University campus to discuss motivation and team building.
Nehlen will speak to WVU faculty and students on Wednesday, October 28, 7 p.m. in Grand Hall, Erickson Alumni Center. The presentation, titled “Motivation and team building for a successful program,” is free and open to the public.

alumni at its Alumni and Donor Recognition Ceremony. The awards acknowledge outstanding
professional achievements as well as commitment and service to the College of Media.

Diana Martinelli welcomed alumni, donors and guests to the ceremony, which
was held at Waterfront Place Hotel on October 1, before presenting the awards.

West Virginia UniversityReed College of Media’sStream Lab a collaborative reporting project focused on regional water quality issues, is preparing to launch six water sensors Monday, Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. Students will launch the sensors at strategic locations along the Monongahela River in Morgantown, West Virginia, near the Morgantown Industrial Park. The press and public are encouraged to attend.
The launch is a part of the College of Media’s experimental journalism class, in which undergraduate and graduate students work together with three College of Media faculty and two Innovators-in-Residence, who are professionals in the media industry.

Diversity Week is an annual, week-long event sponsored by the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The events occurring during the week provide opportunities for individuals to come together in unity to celebrate the rich diversity of our University community.
Although we endeavor to celebrate diversity every day, one of the goals for this week-long event is to promote the different spectrums of diversity that are continuously growing on the WVU campus. It is structured in a way to bring the campus together and share student differences and similarities through a variety activities and venues.
