Graduate student stresses the importance of diversity mentoring in national PR magazine

Rashidah McCoy is a second-year graduate student at the WVU Reed College of Media. Her article, “The importance of mentoring millennial minority students,” recently appeared in Progressions, an online publication for the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).

The article stresses the importance of mentoring in PR agencies to encourage diversity in the workplace.

Make-a-Wish of Greater PA and WV seeks intern

Job Description:
The M­ake-A-Wish® Morgantown office provides two exciting types of internships: Outreach & Development and Program Services. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 9 to 5 and Fridays from 9 to 3, and an intern’s hours and days can be flexible within that time frame. 
Internships are unpaid.

WVU Women's and Gender Studies seeks PAID intern

The West Virginia University Center for Women’s & Gender Studies is advertising a position for an intern who will help publicize and coordinate activities for the Center during the 2014/2015 academic year. This person should be currently enrolled as a WVU student with a background in women’s and gender studies and/or a commitment to social justice issues. The position is part-time (15-20) hours per week depending on need and availability) with a pay rate of $12 per hour and will start during the fall 2014 semester. The intern will be responsible for the following tasks:

1) Develop and communicate information about events and activities associated with the program through the Center’s website and other social media 
• Maintain the Center’s social media presence (such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube) to communicate with alumni, students, faculty and other supporters 
• Take photographs and video recordings and organize documents associated with the program’s activities to post on social media and the Center’s website
• Update calendar of events and assist in communication about activities with university and community members
