Charleston Daily Mail seeks intern

The Charleston Daily Mail is seeking a summer intern to work as a general assignment reporter in our dynamic, digital-first newsroom. We offer pay of $350 a week for 10-12 weeks following the spring semester. The winning candidate also receives a Gianodis scholarship of $1,000 for the following academic year.

The Daily Mail is a great place for students to learn, while they produce top-notch clips and hone a wide variety of digital skills. Assistant City Editor Billy Wolfe will conduct interviews with interested applicants Friday, March 8 in Martin Hall. To schedule an interview, please sign up for a slot in room 107 Martin Hall. Come to the interview with a cover letter, resume and clips.

Coolworks Summer Experience seeks students for two-week internship

The Coolworks Summer Experience, a Dow Jones innovation lab aimed at tackling some of the world’s biggest business challenges, seeks college students from all backgrounds—design, journalism, app development, entrepreneurship, art history, biology—to work for two intensive weeks this summer incubating ideas and prototyping solutions for the future of media across our digital, print and mobile platforms.

Students will provide “fresh eyes” and brainpower to help Dow Jones envision what the business might look like one, ten, or even twenty years from now.

Environmental firm seeks interns

Circle of Blue, a nonprofit news organization that reports about on topics relating to fresh water around the globe—for example, agriculture and food security, energy development and environmental policy—needs a variety of interns for summer 2013, including editors, graphic designers, photographers and researchers.

Speaker 2/21: Law and Advertising

Final Chance to Claim May Commencement Tickets--April 17!

On Wednesday, April 17, the SOJ Commencement ticket-claim website will reopen at 9 a.m. At this time, participants will be allowed to claim and print additional guest tickets. The process will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Please claim only the tickets you absolutely need for the ceremony, as to allow as many guests as possible to attend. Understand that all seats in the theater are assigned, and it may not be possible for all ticket holders to be located together.

An overflow seating area will be available in the lobby of the Creative Arts Center where guests can watch a live video stream of the ceremony on multiple TV screens if they are not seated in the theater. Student-run humor magazine looking for to fill several open positions

The Black Sheep, a student-run humor magazine that currently distributes on and around WVU, is currently looking to fill several positions.

(Print) Writers: Each week writers will be asked to submit one 550-800 word article to their Editorial Manager, to be published in our paper and posted on our site. These timely pieces, which offer humorous insight to local news stories relevant to WVU students, will be submitted to the campus Editorial Manager for review, feedback and publishing.
